I'm a month late to this, but here's my take on MLP: TNG (or whatever we're calling it). I was underwhelmed the first time I watched it, but I gave it a second chance, and it started to grow on me. I think my mistake was watching Raya and the Last Dragon just a few days before the G5 movie. Both movies have similar themes and plots, but they handle them differently. More on that later.

If not then I'm pretty sure it's just writers probably going lazy and choosing a very easy route. They probably didn't want to create a whole arc/seasons of Sunny becoming worthy of becoming an alicorn so they just gave it to her.

So, me and my wife watched My Little Pony: A New Generation just now. Part of me was dreading it was just going to be a complete mess that didn’t know what it was going to be as a sequel to a pop-culture phenomenon like Friendship is Magic, while the other part was hoping it’d somehow blow my mind away.

To my utter disappointment; it did neither.

The movie was just meh.

It's good wholesome fun. Nothing really felt forced, and it emotionally moved me. It warmed my cold, black, cynical heart. So, if you looking for something wholesome to watch, watch this movie, rather than some grimdark edgy crap like Game of Thrones.

Unless you overanalyze this movie with a microscope there is nothing nobody should be upset about.

I regret ever watching Game of Thrones.
